Jelly-filled Carnival Donuts



These delicious jelly-filled carnival doughnuts are the ideal dessert for an enjoyable day spent at home. Full of sweet jelly goodness, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Jelly or jam of your choice for filling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl

Whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a different bowl

Once a smooth dough forms, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir

Preheat vegetable oil to 350F 175C in a deep fryer or large pot

On a surface dusted with flour, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch

Cut out donut shapes with a round cookie cutter

Next, cut out the centers with a smaller cutter to make donut rings

The donuts should be fried for two to three minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown

blot with paper towels

After the donuts cool slightly, fill them with your preferred jam or jelly using a piping bag

After adding powdered sugar, top the jelly-filled donuts and serve
